In March 2018, with the concern of the Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government, Chengdu Xingcheng Investment Group Co., Ltd. funded the establishment of Chengdu Xingcheng Football Club Co., Ltd. On January 15, 2021, it was officially renamed Chengdu Rongcheng Football Club Co., Ltd. Since its establishment, the club has focused on urban development, promoted excellent sports culture as its mission, and carried the dream of urban football. It is determined to build "the country's top and world-class century-old professional football club."

Since its establishment, the club has completed the "five-level jump" from the championship to the Super League in less than four years, completing the club's goal of surpassing one year ahead of schedule. In 2023, it won the fourth place in the Super League, and in 2024, it won the third place in the Super League with 18 wins, 5 draws and 7 losses. It entered the AFC Champions League for the first time, becoming the first Chengdu team to set foot in the Asian arena in the 30 years of China football professionalism.

At the same time, 16 rounds of home games were held with high quality, receiving more than 630,000 fans watching the games, and ensuring nearly 11,000 fans for away expeditions. The attendance rate for home games continued to rank first in the Chinese Super League, creating a nationally famous "gold medal market."

• On March 20, 2018, Chengdu Xingcheng Investment Group Co., Ltd. and Chengdu Derui Football Training Center Co., Ltd. jointly funded the establishment of Chengdu Xingcheng Football Club.
• In August 2018, the Chengdu Xingcheng team won the Chengdu Football Champions League championship with a record of scoring 53 goals and losing 1 goal in five games, and qualified to participate in the Central Champions League regional competition.

• In 2020, the team was renamed "Xingcheng Habitat Football Team." • In August 2020, Chengdu City Sports Bureau and Chengdu City Sports Federation awarded Chengdu Xingcheng Football Club the title of "2016-2020 Chengdu City Advanced Unit of Mass Sports."
• In December 2020, the Chengdu Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China and the People's Government of Chengdu City awarded Chengdu Xingcheng Football Club the title of "2020 Chengdu Construction Advanced Collective in Urban Reform and Innovation that Comprehensively Reflects the New Development Concept."
• On January 15, 2021, in response to relevant requirements of the China Football Association, Chengdu Xingcheng Football Club was officially renamed Chengdu Rongcheng Football Club, and the team was renamed Chengdu Rongcheng Team ever since.
• In 2021, the club established an all-Korean coaching team with Korean coach Xu Zhengyuan as the core, introduced high-level foreign aid such as Felipe and Romulo, and won the fourth place in the China League A.
• In January 2022, the Chengdu Rongcheng team defeated the 15th place Dalian Team in the Chinese Super League with a total score of 2:1 in the upgrade play-off, and qualified for the Chinese Super League.
• In April 2022, the Sichuan Provincial Committee of the Communist Youth League and the Sichuan Province Youth Federation awarded Chengdu Rongcheng Football Club the title of "25th Sichuan Youth May Fourth Medal Collective."
• In May 2022, the Chengdu Municipal Committee of the Communist Youth League and the Chengdu City Youth Federation awarded Chengdu Rongcheng Football Club the title of "Chengdu Youth May Fourth Medal Collective."
• In December 2022, Chengdu Rongcheng team won the fifth place in the Chinese Super League with 18 wins, 11 draws, 5 losses and 65 points, and won the quarterfinals of the China Football Association Cup.
• In December 2023, Chengdu Rongcheng team achieved 27 consecutive rounds of unbeaten cross-season, surpassing the 26 consecutive unbeaten record of 26 consecutive games in the Super League set by Guangzhou Evergrande team in 2015. He won fourth place in the Chinese Super League with 15 wins, 8 draws, 7 losses and 53 points.
• In November 2024, Chengdu Rongcheng team won the third place in the Chinese Super League with 18 wins, 5 draws, 7 losses and 59 points, creating the best ranking in the Chinese Super League in team history, entering the semi-finals of the China Football Association Cup, and qualifying for the AFC Champions League Elite League play-offs next season.
• In January 2025, Chengdu Rongcheng Football Club was elected as the Outstanding Social Responsibility Club in the Chinese Super League and won the Outstanding Youth Training Club Award.
